CTVNews.ca Staff The Conservative party’s official campaign website was briefly taken offline Wednesday evening, as part of a cyberattack. CTV News has learned that the site was down for about an hour and a half, though Conservative officials say no user data was compromised. The website’s downtime coincided with reports of simultaneous cyberattacks against Parliament Hill, the CBC headquarters, and other Canadian institutions. The RCMP is investigating the matter. Conservative spokeswoman Kory Teneycke told CTV News Channel that party officials detected the attack “within moments” of it happening and took "immediate steps" to prevent any data from being stolen. Teneycke added that while user passwords were not compromised, email addresses and other personal information may have been accessed by hackers in the past hour but she declined to provide further details because investigations are ongoing.
